DNA TEST, GRANDPATERNITY

With a DNA Grandpaternity Test. You can determine if a child is your biological grandchild or not. This test is an indirect way to determine a family relationship and very useful when an alleged father is not available or unwilling to participate in a paternity test.

It is highly recommended that both possible grandparents and the mother participate with the child in the DNA Grandpaternity Test. An analysis of the child’s DNA is compared with the DNA of the alleged father’s biological parents and the child’s mother. Since a child inherits half of their DNA from the mother and half from the father, the paternal half should match the DNA passed down from the alleged grandparents. The mother’s participation is encouraged to eliminate her contribution to half of the child’s DNA, leaving the other half to test for the paternal contribution. If both grandparents are not available to be tested, the test can be performed with only one grandparents participation as long as the child’s mother is included in the test.

The process is very simple and easy. Our professional medical assistant will rub soft swabs on the inside of both cheeks of the child and all participating parties, to determine the grandpaternity of a single child. If more than one child is being tested, additional fees will be incurred.

Description

WHAT IS A GRANDPATERNITY DNA TEST?

A Grandpaternity DNA Test, also called a Grandparentage Test, compares the DNA from a child to his or her biological mother, as well as at least one biological paternal grandparent.  Since the alleged father inherited 1/2 of his DNA from his mother (grandmother) and 1/2 of his DNA from his father (grandfather), it is always preferable to include both biological grandparents in this type of DNA family relationship test.

DESCRIPTION:

With a DNA Grandpaternity Test, also known as a Grandparentage or Missing Parent Test, you can determine if a child is your biological grandchild or not.  This test is an indirect way to determine a family relationship and very useful when an alleged father is not available or unwilling to participate in a paternity test.

It is highly recommended that both paternal possible grandparents and the mother participate with the child in the DNA Grandpaternity Test. If both grandparents are not available to be tested, the test can be performed with only one grandparent’s participation as long as the child’s mother is included in the test.  The good news is our DNA testing laboratory partner examines 20 genetic markers at no additional cost, unlike other DNA labs that only test 16, improving the overall probability of relationship.

The process is very simple and easy.  Our professional medical assistant will rub soft swabs on the inside of both cheeks of the child and all participating parties, to determine the grandpaternity of a single child.  If more than one child is being tested, additional fees will be incurred.

TEST DETAILS:

Results:

This test will reflect the probability of relationship.  A “0” means there is no biological relationship.

High Probability of Relationship Indicates:

If the grandparentage index is greater than 1.00, this indicates that the tested individuals are more likely to be the true biological relatives.  The higher the value of the index, the greater the likelihood that the individuals are true biological relatives.

Low or No Probability of Grandparentage Indicates:

If the grandparentage index is less than 1.00, this indicates likelihood of non-relatedness.

**Note:  If both biological grandparents and the child’s mother are not included in the DNA Grandpaternity Test, the test results may not always be conclusive.
