Is It An Allergy, Sensitivity or Intolerance?
There is a big difference between an allergy and a sensitivity, or being intolerant to something. Symptoms associated with sensitivities, intolerances and allergies can impact your health and quality of life. The right lab test can get you the answers you need, and tell you what to avoid. But do you know which lab test to order? Do you have a gluten allergy, or a gluten intolerance? Do you know if you have a food allergy, or are you sensitive to certain foods, spices, additives, or colorings?
Getting tested is easy, but it is important to make sure you get the right lab test for your needs and symptoms. To help you with your decision, ask our ANY LAB TEST NOW medical assistant for help. You can also use our easy Road Map of Symptoms to help guide you to the most appropriate testing option, from an IgE or IgG allergy test, to an ALCAT lab test for sensitivities and intolerances.
ALCAT TESTING FOR SENSITIVITIES AND INTOLERANCES
IgE and IgG tests are proven effective, but only if the body has had recent exposure to the irritant and the antibody is still present. ALCAT testing can detect intolerances and sensitivities regardless of exposure. Blood samples are exposed to common irritants, and the cells are studied to measure the body’s reaction.
Some of the most common ALCAT lab tests ordered at ANY LAB TEST NOW include:
NEW! Gut Health Profile (Tests for diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Celiac Disease and Crohn’s Disease)
Pediatric Wellness Panel (Tests for 50 foods and 20 food additives and coloring)
200 Foods Panel (Tests for 200 foods, from acorn squash, milk (cow’s and goat’s), brewers yeast, broccoli, ginger, gluten/gliadin, and many more)
Comprehensive Platinum Panel (320 items are tested, including the 200 food panel; 50 functional foods and medicinal herbs; 20 food additives and coloring; 21 molds and 20 antibiotic/angi-inflammatory agents)
ALLERGY TESTING (IgE)
Allergies occur when your body is exposed to something it thinks is harmful, and creates antibodies to protect itself for the next exposure. the next time the body is exposed, it releases histamines, which cause the symptoms (allergic reactions). Most reactions are mild (sneezing and watery eyes), but some can be deadly, resulting in anaphylactic shock. The most common tests for these types of allergies are IgE tests. These tests detect immunoglobulin “e” traces in your blood, and can pinpoint the offending element.
Some of the most popular IgE allergy tests offered at ANY LAB TEST NOW include:
ALLERGY TESTING (IgG)
Sometimes our bodies don’t react well when exposed to something, but the effect isn’t immediate, it’s cumulative. The body creates antibodies, but the symptoms don’t happen overnight, and can wreak havoc over time. Symptoms can include fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, headaches and weight gain.
The most common test for these types of allergies are IgG lab tests. These allergy tests detect immunoglobulin “g” traces in your blood, and can identify the offending element.
ANY LAB TEST NOW’s most common IgG allergy tests include:
Expanded Food Panel III (Tests for 90 Food Allergens [meat/poultry, dairy, seafood, fruits, vegetables, grains, spices and additives])
Comprehensive Combination Panel I/III (Tests for 45 Regional Environmental Allergens [grasses, weeds, trees and molds] by IgE and 90 Food Allergens [meats/poultry, dairy, seafood, fruits, vegetables grains, spices and additives] by IgG
Super Combination Panel (Tests for 45 Regional Environmental Allergens [grasses, weeds, trees and molds] by IgE and 90 Food Allergens [meats/poultry, dairy, seafood, fruits, vegetables grains, spices and additives] by IgG and IgE
